Anatomies in Limbo
Driven by a persistent fascination with clothing, Hansol Kim’s research-led and personal approach reconfigures the definition of wearability. His sculptural objects occupy the intersection of garments and furniture. They contest the typical features of each field, asking to be considered as a completely new category of their own.
Exhibition organised as part of the Gallery 3 By You project.
Gallery 3 By You is Het Nieuwe Instituut’s initiative to make museum presentation space available to makers from the field. The exhibition spaces in Gallery 3 (on the top floor of the museum building) are open to projects – whether an academy graduation show, an installation around an urban event, a presentation by a professional association, or work by young Rotterdam makers. The creators arrange the set-up and disassembly themselves, take care of attracting visitors and carry the costs of the presentation.
