André Leon Talley: Le Style est Éternel arrives in Lacoste as a celebration of the life, influence, and unmistakable vision of André Leon Talley, a distinguished editor, cultural icon, and cherished mentor to generations of SCAD students. This new presentation features a selection of looks from Talley’s wardrobe alongside exceptional pieces donated by designers he personally encouraged to support the SCAD Permanent Collection. The exhibition also includes rare loans from artists, celebrities, and collaborators who worked closely with him, offering an intimate view of the world he shaped and the people who shaped it with him.

Raised in North Carolina, Talley forged a path from the U.S. South to the global stage of fashion. His career began at The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute under Diana Vreeland, continued through Andy Warhol’s legendary Factory, and reached international renown at Vogue with Anna Wintour. Talley’s intellect, distinctive voice, and ability to contextualize contemporary fashion within broader histories of beauty and identity cemented his stature as one of the most influential figures in modern style.

Presented at SCAD FASH Lacoste, the exhibition highlights couture, ready-to-wear, and bespoke garments by houses such as Balenciaga, Dior, Chanel, and Manolo Blahnik. It also showcases personal objects, artworks, and mementos from Talley’s circle, reflecting the generosity, brilliance, and cultural impact that defined his 40-year career.

André Leon Talley: Le Style est Éternel is curated by Rafael Brauer Gomes, creative director of SCAD FASH museums.
