The Musée des Tissus takes a closer look at a 20th century fashion figure through Lee Price’s collection put into perspective with its own collections of textiles and decorative art objects. Madame Vivienne Westwood’s creations, from punk uniforms to environmental activism, revisited historical costume, played with the codes of British culture and borrowed many elements from artists of the past.
With more than 200 textile pieces, accessories, works of art, paintings and drawings, the exhibition reveals the diversity of fashion creations, understood thanks to the numerous loans granted by Lee Price. The evocation of the stylist’s sources of inspiration initiates a dialogue with the museum’s collections.
