Costume Drama: an exhibition of historical costumes from film and TV

Bankfield Museum Fashion Gallery brings together a host of costumes from the world of TV and film costume drama. This is your chance to see iconic screen costumes from Pride and Prejudice (1995), Emma (2020), The King’s Speech (2010), Downton Abbey (Season 1, 2010), Gentleman Jack (2019-22) and many others.

You will be able to explore the art of the costume designer and costume maker and gain an insight into how their creations bring characters to life on the screen. Enjoy a close-up view of Emma Woodhouse’s stunning yellow pelisse and plumed hat worn by Anya Taylor-Joy. Swoon over Mr. Darcy (Colin Firth) after he emerges from THAT lake. Revel in the historical detail of the Downton Abbey costumes shown alongside beautiful original dresses of the era from Bankfield Museum’s own world class costume collection.

We will be running an events programme alongside the exhibition throughout the year. Please keep an eye on our social media for more details or sign up to our e-newletter to be the first to hear.
