Fabric of Fashion: Recente Engelse Mode (Fabric of Fashion: Recent English Fashion)
In the summer of 2002 the exhibition Fabric of Fashion was shown in the Centraal Museum. Work by 15 young English fashion designers was shown. They combine new ways of making clothes with old techniques such as embroidery, knitting and weaving. Two installations by Hussein Chalayan, one of the most influential avant-garde designers, were also on display.
With designs by Nigel Atkinson, Savithri Bartlett, Hussein Chalayan, B.Earley, Eley Kishimoto, Shelley Fox, Carol Fraser, Jo Gordon, ie uniform, Mulligan, Paul Murray Watson, Hikaru Noguchi, Jessica Ogden, Sophie Roet and Vexed Generation.
Guest curators were Sarah Braddock and Marie O’Mahony.
The exhibition was realized in collaboration with the British Council.
