Les Arts Décoratifs is hosting a prestigious exhibition presented at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art ( LACMA ) from October 2, 2010 to March 27, 2011 then at the Deutsch Historisches Museum in Berlin from April 27 to July 29, 2012. Fashioning Fashion: two centuries of European fashion 1700 -1915 celebrates the acquisition by LACMA of two remarkable collections, that of Martin Kamer and that of Wolfgang Ruf, both antique dealers and collectors of costumes and old fabrics. This heritage reflects the key fashion trends in Europe XVIII th century to the dawn of the XX th. The exhibition, which is both chronological and thematic, unveils, in an unprecedented way, nearly a hundred male and female silhouettes, complete and fully accessorized. These pieces coming mainly from France, England and Italy present the evolution of tastes with an emphasis on shapes, details and know-how.
