Frock Stars: inside Australian Fashion Week, an exhibition created by the Powerhouse Museum in collaboration with IMG Fashion, takes you behind the scenes of Australia’s most prestigious annual fashion event, Australian Fashion Week.

Experience the shows, sit front row, see who hangs out in the VIP lounge, watch footage from past and present collections, view some of the best outfits from Australian Fashion Week and hear exclusive interviews with designers, models and industry insiders!

Frock Stars is a captivating behind-the-scenes look at the history, highlights, glamour, controversies and achievements of Australian Fashion Week, an event that has challenged and changed perceptions of the Australian fashion industry.

The exhibition looks back on the history of Australian Fashion Week: from the key players who believed that Australia deserved a place on the international fashion circuit to the ‘frock stars’ who create the garments, the media and buyers who sit front row and provide their verdict on the collections to some of the hundreds of people working behind the scenes to make the event happen.

At its centre, the exhibition showcases 15 garments from major Australian designers including Zimmermann’s ‘60s inspired swimwear, exquisite demi-couture evening gowns by Toni Maticevski and Michelle Jank, streetwear by Ksubi, the irreverent Iced VoVo dress by Romance Was Born and the classically inspired Ice Blue knot pleated dress by rising star Dion Lee.

‘Frock Stars: inside Australian Fashion Week’ is a a travelling exhibition developed by the Powerhouse Museum. This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body.
