Welcome to Haus of fibre! Come in and discover how LGBTQIA+ artists have been working with textiles as an artistic medium for generations. In this colorful, warm and quirky house you can be yourself. It is a special place, built from threads by and for the queer community.

Haus of fibre is the result of a unique co-creation process. We wanted to create an exhibition about the role of textiles in the work of artists from the LGBTQIA+ community and this story is of course best told by queer artists themselves. That is why – after an open call – we invited Nixie van Laere , Célio Braga, Chathuri Nissansala and Yamuna Forzani to design this exhibition with us. Inspired by the museum’s collection and the work of queer artists from the past and present, we jointly created an exhibition in which textiles function as a medium and metaphor for connection, loss and resistance.

On Saturday 11 October – during National Coming Out Day , the exhibition opens to the public. On that day, the museum is free to visit and there is plenty to do. Read more about the program on our website.

Haus of fibre can be seen until 15 March. A series of events will be organised during the exhibition. The full programme will soon be published on the website of the TextielMuseum.
