Hubert de Givenchy
A selection of the best creations by the French designer in the first major retrospective organized on Hubert de Givenchy and the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza’s first foray into the world of fashion.
The exhibition is curated by Givenchy himself and thus offers an exceptional approach to his collections over half a century, from the Maison Givenchy’s founding in Paris in 1952 to his professional retirement in 1996.
The dresses he designed for some of the most iconic personalities of the 20th century, such as Jacqueline Kennedy, the Duchess of Windsor, Carolina of Monaco or her former muse and friend Audrey Hepburn -who dressed in films like Sabrina or Breakfast with Diamonds- , her most original creations such as the Bettina blouse or jacket dress or his admired ready-to-wear designs , a concept he himself created in 1954, will be displayed alongside a set of works from different periods and styles from the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza collections.
