In 1997 the Centraal Museum presented an exhibition of Dutch fashion in the Oud-Amelisweerd country house, in collaboration with the Eigenwijs Fashion Foundation, which is celebrating its anniversary. Important young designers of the previous ten years were represented. The aim was to demonstrate the wealth, versatility and talent of Dutch fashion designers. The method of presentation was also special: every visitor was welcomed with a glass of champagne, and then allowed to find his way through rooms that were temporarily completely whitened. The furnishing concept of the exhibition was created by Ruud van der Peijl in collaboration with Bas Andrea.

“Modehuis Oud-Amelisweerd” was made possible in part by contributions from the Mondriaan Foundation, the VSB Fund, the Prins Berhard Fund, the K.F. Hein Fund, the Elise Mathilde Fund, Clavis Pianoservice Utrecht and fashion magazine ELLE.
