Necklace for an Elephant and Other Stories: The Working Lives of David Poston
A Harley Gallery and Ruthin Craft Centre originated touring exhibition funded by Arts Council England. Brought to Dovecot Gallery with support from The Dovecot Foundation and Creative Scotland.
Jeweller, designer-maker, interdisciplinary problem solver and 3D technologist: these are just some of the ways David Poston has variously been described during an imaginative and wide ranging career. This exhibition documents David Poston’s extensive exploration into materials, ideas and collaboration.
This is Poston’s second exchange with Dovecot, as in 2008 together with Dovecot Tapestry Studio’s Master Weaver Jonathan Cleaver, Poston developed a series of woven viscose, wire and stainless steel wire arm-wear pieces which were then exhibited at Dovecot in Sitting and Looking in 2010. One of these pieces is now in the collection of the National Museum of Scotland and other objects produced during this collaboration feature in the exhibition set within the wider context of Poston’s work and life.
