SHAPE – body, fashion, identity shows fashion and visual art that reflects on contemporary views on the body, beauty ideals and identity. Public debates about cosmetic surgery, cultural identity, gender roles and the impact of technology on our self-image provide the inspiration. The creations on show push the boundaries of the body and our imagination and explore how we shape our identity through fashion. These days, you put together your outfit not only in real life, but also digitally with the help of artificial intelligence and digital fashion.

SHAPE is a journey of discovery along three themes: the vulnerable body, gender diversity and the hybrid body. These themes are also the inspiration for three new installations developed by Dutch fashion designer Marlou Breuls, digital designer Elmo Mistiaen and Danish designer Henrik Vibskov together with the TextielLab’s knitting specialists.

Fashion and art meet in the spatial setting, designed by Studio Harm Rensink. Elmo Mistiaen designed digital landscapes for fabric and wallpaper inspired by the human body.
