About
Society’s consumption in the 21st century has risen to unprecedented levels. Accelerating technological change, population growth, and increasing consumption patterns have driven us to the age of the Anthropocene, in which fashion is just one of many industries contributing to an uncertain future on our unstable planet.
A decrease in quality, rise in purchasing, and the speed of replacement has transformed the fashion industry and our relationship with clothes, creating an unsustainable method of living.
Represented through fine art and design practice, SOCIAL FABRIC aims to highlight threads of fast fashion consumer culture, with contributions from Sophie Cunningham, Winnie Chan, Silvia Martinez Cerezo and Worn Workshop.
