Sue Timney is the celebrated designer whose company, Timney-Fowler, is best known for its distinctive graphic black and white imagery. It is also one of a rare breed of design companies whose work flows effortlessly between fashion and interiors.Timney left the Royal College of Art in 1979 after which she formed Timney-Fowler with Grahame Fowler. Sue and Grahame collaborated with designers such as Issey Miyake, Yohji Yamamoto, Ralph Lauren and Diane von Furstenberg, producing fashion and fabric concepts for their labels.2010 is the 30th anniversary of Timney-Fowler and is marked by an exhibition at the FTM – a retrospective of both Sue’s career as a designer and her work with Timney-Fowler, featuring some unique and exclusive material in an exciting, bold display developed in collaboration with Sue. The exhibition explores the history and themes of this world-recognised design firm. It is a real experience for the senses and brings the FTM alive including a wall of fabrics and samples; furniture; and scarves and shirts bearing her distinctive designs.
