In the exhibition space on the first floor, MoMu presents both contemporary and historical pieces from its collection combined with pieces on loan from several designers. Some sections of the collection as well as recent donations and acquisitions are also on display.
The scenography is by Bob Verhelst, who in the past has realised many of MoMu’s exhibitions. The objects are presented on and around specially designed tables. The setting gives visitors the impression they have entered an old department store, a reference to the ‘Old England’ shop that at the end of the 19th century occupied the ground floor of the fashion museum’s site. Seated at the tables visitors can study the objects in detail.
“The MoMu Collection: Selection II” contains work from the following designers: Dries Van Noten, Maison Martin Margiela, Rochas, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dirk Van Saene, Veronique Branquinho, Comme des Garçons, A.F. Vandevorst, Stephen Jones, Ann Demeulemeester, and Bruno Pieters, amongst others.
