UltraMegaLore – Fashion Icon
In 2010, MMH presented the exhibition ‘UltraMegaLore’ in the spring. International top model Hannelore Knuts (b. Hasselt, 1977) is curating an exhibition on her career, inspirations and encounters, based on an idea by Kenneth Ramaekers.
Since giving up her photography studies at 21 to become a model, Hannelore has walked all the fashion shows and become the face of exclusive brands such as Chanel, Gucci, Marc Jacobs and Prada.
In Hasselt she was given carte blanche to put together an exhibition that gives a blueprint of her (at the time) 10-year career at international top level.
You were given a glimpse into her universe, which extends beyond fashion. People she met along the way, who fascinated her, with whom she felt akin and who left a deep impression on her. Irrespective of whether they were fashionable or not. A cluster of encounters and impressions.
The visitor experienced a variety of artworks and disciplines, as if leafing through a magazine with Hannelore’s gaze. Just as a stylist combines endlessly different brands, second-hand clothes and personal things, this is how she approached her role as curator.
The exhibition was neither a retrospective nor an homage to the model Hannelore. It was rather a homage to the people who made her who she was at that moment.
