On January 19, 1991, a completely new setup of the Fashion and Costume department of the Centaal Museum was presented. In this arrangement, the dresses were shown in chronological order and were primarily selected for ‘festiveness’. Portraits from the museum’s painting collection provided an interesting addition.

The new arrangement of costumes and accessories was designed by Jos Stoopman. The styling of the exhibits in the showcases was provided by Maarten Spruyt.
